S&S Preparations

S&S Preparations was founded some 20 years ago by Simon Carr and Steve Wilcox, both qualified engineers by trade, but more importantly TR7 enthusiasts. After carrying out the V8 conversion to Steve's TR7, a V8 Rally Car was purchased. To supplement the cost of rallying, Simon and Steve started to carry out work for members of the local TR Club in which they were both active. S&S Preparations was now born, albeit on a part time basis. It soon became apparent that the skill and knowledge that they had both acquired was becoming very sought after throughout the TR 7 world, more and more of their spare time including holidays was being spent working on TR's, so in January 1986 the decision was made to make S&S a full time occupation. The first year saw 3 magazines Sports Car Monthly, fast Car and Car & Car Conversions all carry major features on S&S and their work. The workforce also swelled to 5, and by the end of this first year it was obvious that they had to move from the original 5 car workshop to the 1acre site where they are now in August 1988. Within 12 months a purpose built Body shop and Paint shop was added along with 2 more staff. Over the next few years a 2500sqft storage area was built along with a car showroom and sales compound. 

2001 saw the need to leave Ramsbottom for something much bigger; a 200 year old Mill was purchased which gives us around 20,000sqft over 3 floors. The ground floor workshop now allows us to accommodate twice the number of cars that the old workshops did. Because of this increase in workshop area we have been able to install a New Low Bake Oven. The other 2 floors house the Sales & Service counter, office as well as the parts stores which carries even more lines than ever.

Today S&S  have around 70 cars on site at any one time, they carry virtually every part in stock for the TR7/8 both new and used. For the TR7 owner this can only be TR7 heaven!!!

Due to increasing demand from owners of cars from other marques, S&S have over the last few years opened up their workshops to cater for them.We are now able to offer the S&S standard of workmanship to any make of Classic & Sportscar.Thes have recently included, classic Ferrari's (308, 348 & Mondial Range) TVR's, De Lorean, Sunbeam, MG's, Jaguar, Renault GTA's, more modern sportscar have included Corvette's, Escort Cosworth's, Mitsubishi  Evo's and of course the whole Triumph range.
